Sunday 17th June 2018

It is with great delight that Wildlife Autosport announces it will be running a Stage Rally event at Smeatharpe (Devon) airfield on Sunday 17th June 2018. Our event is being run in memory of Richard King who sadly passed away in January. He was Chairman of Wildlife Autosport which ran both Rallies and Hillclimbs at Cricket st Thomas Wildlife Park from 1975-1998. Although the venue was lost Richard still continued in his role in promoting Motorsport in the South West including Rallies at Smeatharpe & Bovington under the banner of Wildlife Autosport.

Bournemouth and District Car Club since 2004 have been successfully running a Stage Rally at Smeatharpe, then in 2007 adding a second event to the years calendar. During early 2018 Bournemouth and District Car Club asked if Wildlife Autosport (Burnham-on-Sea Motor Club and Taunton Motoring Club), would be interested in taking over the running of one of the two Stage Rallies held on Smeatharpe, allowing Bournemouth and District Car Club to continue with their wide range of Motorsport events including the two Rallies held at Bovington. In Bournemouth and District Car Club statement (05/02/18) they said “Running two events so far from our home base for over ten years is not easy logistically and has only been possible by the goodwill of members giving up their valuable time.”.

Wildlife Autosport were delighted to be approached and with support from Bournemouth and District Car Club have started to plan for the June 2018 event this year’s only Stage Rally taking place at Smeatharpe. The Date for the Wildlife Smeatharpe Stages is Sunday 17th June, entries are hoping to be open to competitors early in April 2018.
